Tai "Upgrade" Rotan is an American musician, composer, producer, fashion mogul and social activist. A voting member of The Recording Academy since 2009, Rotan has produced and globally distributed over 300 original instrumental compositions, 14 instrumental albums and 1 opera soundtrack via his TKRP Music Publishing company (BMI), with many works recognized by The Recording Academy, Billboard.com, The SOURCE Magazine, XXL Magazine and Creative Loafing Atlanta.
His first major commercial music success came with production credits on “Can’t Sell Dope Forever,” an album released by Dead Prez & 2Pac Shakur's group the Outlawz in 2006. The song was entitled “Came Up” and featured Young Noble from the Outlawz, Stic.man from Dead Prez, and Lazie Bone from Bone Thugs N Harmony. Since then, he has produced and distributed albums featuring the works of Grammy Award winning bassist Leonard "HUB" Nelson Hubbard (The ROOTS), Kanye West, NAS, 50 Cent, Nashawn, Jungle, Grammy Award winning trumpet player Jimmy King (Bruno Mars/Hooligans), Aleon Craft, Mach Five, (featuring Phife Dawg/A Tribe Called Quest), Chair Krazy, SkyHy, Yanni, Naja, Sommer Melody, Muffy, Billy P, Johnnie Harris (bassist from CAMEO), and many more.
Highly praised by early reviews and his #1 spot on the ReverbNation instrumental charts in Atlanta, Tai’s futuristic sound crosses many genres while still appealing to a wide audience – from New Age to EDM, Downtempo, Hip Hop, R&B, Techno and House.
